Thank You Mr. Pryor

Nice little "quickie" write up today on http://www.chattanoogan.com/Breaking-News/ about two of the boys getting to see their pitching coach go to work this past weekend.Thank you Mr. Pryor for working with these young men in your spare time, and thanks to Stump & Misty Martin. We are all truly blessed. We'll be playing Mustang Baseball before we know it. Its going to be a fun summer.
While Ringgold resident Stephen Pryor was in town last weekend for a rehab assignment for the Seattle Mariners he spent a few moments with two of his pupils. Pictured at AT&T Field are, from left, Team Nike Mustangs players Kaben Bragg (Chattanooga) and Austin Chastain (Fort Oglethorpe). The big league pitcher was playing for the Jackson Generals against the Chattanooga Lookouts. During the off season Pryor gives pitching lessons to these two and others throughout the Tri-State area.

It's Almost Baseball Season

When the coach needs all hands on deck, we take it seriously at Boyd Buc. About thirty people showed up and we knocked  five hours of work out in almost three. Of course we had some serious machinery to cut the time down. There's still plenty to d but most of the back breaking work is over.

Know When to Say When

You always want to finish on a high note. Sometimes however you just have to know when to say when. This happens to be one of those times. Most of these boys finished summer ball and went straight to football. Us coaches got them together to play a few tourneys so we'd know what we needed to work on in the off season and make sure the team was going gihad with the new players. (We happen to fall in that catagory)
This last tourney we had our ups and downs, the downs just happened to come in the championship game. Not really that bad concidering the team hasn't hit it's groove. It's time to lay up then start working on the process.

Southern Baseball Fall Classic 2013

The 13u Team Nike Mustangs are Tournament Champions in only their second tourney since they were made over as a team. That's a pretty cool deal for a son and his Dad on the ride home. There's certain satisfaction as a coach that a parent will struggle to grasp a hold of as coaches are always thinking out in front. Coaches are always thinking about progress for individuals and team as a whole.
These boys played 4 straight games, a total of 9 hrs with nothing more than short umpire breaks in between games. No one on the team is really working out for baseball. Heck most are wrapped up in MS football season. That didn't seem to have that much effect on these young men.
From the first pitch of game 1 right up to the last 3 innings of the Championship game when the game itself begins to challenge the mind and the body, this team dug deep and kept on grinding it out.
Understand that the biggest part of the process is a team that has the heart and the mindset to play that way no matter the situation. Most of these boys possess this already. What I know and what I say about all this is, Summer 2014 is shaping up to be a good one!

Its football season - but its always baseball season

We took the boys up to Knoxville for the Tn - Ga game and although the game didnt turn out to well we still managed to have a great time. While bumming about Knoxville we ran into UT Vols head Coach Dave Serrano. (Happens to be my favorite College coach) and when Tn landed him I was exstatic. Not sure he kids get it but this is a HUGE pick up for the University of TN. This guy is a winner and it wont be long before we see the beloved VOLS in the SEC Championship game and hopefully in OMAHA for the CWS.
